I am proud to announce the rebirth of bitterman comics.
And in keeping with my theme of never following through with anything, we’ll start off with a rerun.
I cannot believe I forgot about St Patrick’s Day……
Saturday morning television blows these days.
I’m still limited mobility-wise, so I flipped a few channels this morning before rolling out for a shower.
It’s the same formula, mind you. That being outlandish cartoons speckled with one or two bright, fast-paced, live action shows, and marketed with commercials for toys, cereal, and theme parks.
As much as it pains me to say – because I’ll be labeled as generationally biased – the cartoons of my youth are far superior.
Just a few of my personal favorites in no particular order:
- George of the Jungle (Tom Slick, Super Chicken, et.al.)
- Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch
- Sigmund and the Seamonsters
- The Bugs Bunny Show – which sadly, cut together heavily edited Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies.
- Scooby Doo, Where Are You!
- Speed Buggy – a blatant but entertaining Scooby Doo rip off. I had a Speed Buggy lunch box.
- Johnny Quest
- The Banana Splits – quite possibly the best live action/cut to cartoon format ever made.
I can promise you that if the Banana Splits were to return, the world would be a better place.
More later from your pal, bitterman.
