that I just discovered Live From Daryl’s House, a monthly web series created and hosted by unassuming king of white boy soul, Daryl Hall. It’s been in production since 2007 according to the web page. Boy have I been missing out.
It matters not if you refused to appreciate the musical abilities of Hall & Oates. Blame it on those 80s videos, right? I had no place in my heart or my record collection for them either. Well, there was that one Maxell XL 90 generically labeled “Make Out Tape” that was of questionable origin and exceptionally underutilized…..I think it had a couple of Hall & Oates tunes on it, but I digress.
However, I have binge viewed a large chunk of the series over a weekend and have realized the error of my tonal ways. You need to accept the funk on face value and realize there is more than ample opportunity for you to repent as well.
I swear to you, dear pinheads; if I had but one musical wish to be granted true, it would be the never fleeting ability to groove like this. Just like this…..
I did a fair rendition of Sara Smile back in the day, although it was in front of a mirror……….and into a hairbrush.
