I read that Elaine Stewart died.
She was in the film adaptation of Lerner and Loewe’s hit play called Brigadoon.
Just thought I’d float that out there as an FYI.
My parents had the Broadway cast recording in their record collection when I was little and that triggered a memory or two. One being of my Mom’s buttery smooth Alto voice, singing show tunes and popular hits of the day while she did things around the house. The other of the animated and colorful pictures on the record covers of the original Broadway cast recordings.
I have a fondness for musicals as well – without the propensity or need to feel up members of my own sex. Many years ago, I played in the pit band for a community theater production of My Fair Lady. It was one of the more memorable experiences of my entire high school career. I carried delusions of professional musicianship for quite a few years after till Pop suggested I exit the Highway of Pirate Sex and Drunken Filth. It was good advice. Very good advice. But I still occasionally wonder what might have been if I had managed to fight my way through the minefield of naked girls and frat keggers and stanky U Haul trucks.
Just a few of the thoughts rolling around in my head on this cloudy Tuesday.
